Dr. Sunil Kumar, the Chief Innovative Officer and co-founder of SciGlyph Exploration Private Limited in Patna, India, has a remarkable academic and professional background. He obtained his Ph.D. and M.Tech in Petroleum Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad, India in 2013 and 2017, respectively. Prior to that, he completed his B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT), Odisha, in 2011. Seeking broader academic horizons and international exposure, Dr. Sunil Kumar served as a Postdoctoral Associate at the University of Calgary, Canada, from 2017 to 2019, within the Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering (CERC group), Schulich School of Engineering. Following this, he engaged in a research position as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institute of Hydrocarbon Recovery, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia, from 2019 to 2022. Throughout his academic journey, Dr. Sunil Kumar has made notable contributions to the field of energy and material research, resulting in numerous publications in esteemed international journals, patents, and book chapters. He has authored more than 22 international journal papers and 3 book chapters, while also filing 2 patents. Currently, he is working on writing/editing his upcoming books 'An Introduction to Oil-Field Scaling (2024)' and 'Subsurface Hydrogen Energy Storage: Current Status, Prospects, and Challenges,' scheduled to be published by Elsevier in 2024 under the ISBN: 9780443240713 (part of the Energy with Purpose initiative by Elsevier Energy). Dr. Sunil Kumar actively serves as a reviewer for several reputable international journals, including the Journal of Natural Gas Science and Engineering, the Journal of the Taiwan Institute of Chemical Engineers, Energy & Fuels, Petroleum Science, Natural Resources Research, Energy Sources, Part A: Recovery, Utilization, and Environmental Effects, and Inderscience journal, among others. His research expertise encompasses various areas such as enhanced oil recovery, complex fluids design and development, surface and interfacial science, fluid flow in porous media, Underground Hydrogen Storage (UHS), carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS), nanotechnology in oil and gas, reservoir characterization, unconventional energy resources, green energy resources, and clean technologies. Currently, Dr. Sunil Kumar is dedicated to deploying hydrogen technology in the e-mobility sector.
Dr. Sirish Kumar, the Chief Executive Officer of Sciglyph, brings a wealth of expertise and experience to the organization. He is a CSIR-UGC fellow in Earth Science and holds a PhD in Geology from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, specializing in the geochemical evolution of Earth’s different geological layers. His research during his PhD is focused on the evolution of Earth’s crust during the early stage of Earth’s evolution. His research has helped in filling the knowledge gap about understanding the thermodynamic approach for the evolution of the Bastar craton and mathematically modelled the exhumed crustal sections of the Bastar craton. The outcomes of the said research will be very soon available to interested readers in the form of an original article, “High-pressure fractionation of mafic cumulate and its role in the evolution of the silicic crust of Neo-archaean Bastar craton”, and a book titled “Precambrian Geochemistry” co-authored with Prof. Deepanker Asthana. With over 10 years of dedicated research experience, Dr. Sirish Kumar is now focusing on the interdisciplinary research at Sciglyph where with the help of his team he is studying the geochemical and mineralogical characterization of geological systems for underground hydrogen storage. His keen interest in this field has led him to explore innovative approaches and methodologies for efficient and sustainable hydrogen storage solutions. As the CEO of Sciglyph, Dr Sirish Kumar plays a crucial role in driving the company's vision and strategic direction, utilizing his deep knowledge and expertise in geochemistry to contribute to the advancement of energy storage technologies.
